Survival Uses for a Pill Bottle

There are several survival uses for a pill bottle. It should be present on every trip you make to the wilderness. Let’s look at some of these uses below.

5 Survival Uses for a Pill Bottle

Serve as a First-aid Kit

We can’t dictate when accidents will happen at home, much more when we are cutting through the trees in the wilderness. Trust the scrapes & bruises to be present. However, we can prepare ahead by carrying the first-aid toolkit at all times. Remember that the earlier you treat an injury, the lesser the risk of infection.

Sometimes, you may want to carry a portable first-aid kit instead of the complete box, and in these times, an empty pill bottle will serve you just fine.

You can carry the following items in your makeshift kit:

  • Alcohol prep pad;
  • Alka-seltzer;
  • Anti-inflammatory medicines, such as Aleve;
  • Iodine prep pad;
  • Pain relievers apart from Aspirin
  • Needle & thread for deep cuts

You can carry this lightweight kit along while on a hiking or hunting trail.

Sewing Kit

Some persons are good with little crafts and may decide to pass time in the wild by sewing. In some cases, it may be necessary to quickly sew something, maybe mend a tear or join a stitch.

By the way, if you don’t know how to sew, you should learn how to. It is an essential piece of survival skills, with which you can mend backpack straps & zippers, some minor clothing, or repair a gaping tent.

Waterproof Container

Your pill bottle can also serve as a waterproof container to transfer valuables in the wild, which is a very good use considering that you may have to cross a river as you explore the woods. Money is especially delicate and should be protected.

When SHTF, it is impossible to use credit cards or automated teller machines, so money has to be available in its physical form. True, cash may be carried around in purses or pockets, but it’s only a matter of time before it gets wet.

While you can just keep your dollar bills in the bottle, you can make an advanced container using the pill bottle, nylon cord, adhesive remover, E-6000 glue & a large screw.

Ammo Storage

Self-defense is crucial in every survival discussion. When push comes to shove, having a gun or survival knife on you may be the difference between life and death. However, you have to keep your firearm safe when not in use, and that’s how the pill bottle comes into play. You can keep ammo in an empty pill bottle to protect them from water and the reach of kids, as you’ll be carrying in your pockets.

Seed Gathering

Seeds are important if you’re setting up your homestead, and you may come across one unexpectedly without the selected container for collecting them. Not to worry, you can always carry a pill bottle about to gather seeds wherever you find them. Easy vegetables to grow include squash, pumpkin, lettuce, kale, cucumbers & carrots.

Concluding The Survival Uses for a Pill Bottle

The list of things to do with a pill bottle continues, extending to battery storage and fire starter. With so many uses to access by carrying such a lightweight item, there’s no reason not to carry one or two as you hit the wild. Let’s hear you; what are the other survival uses for a pill bottle that you know?
