Why do I think that knowing the several uses of lavender when disaster strikes may surprise you? Maybe it is because I, myself, didn’t know of these uses until I’d gone on nearly 40 camping trips.  Let’s see the different uses of lavender oil in a survival situation.

Five (5) Uses of Lavender Oil When Disaster Strikes

First-aid

Lavender oil is an effective treatment for burns and scalds. By applying topically on affected skin surfaces, you can avoid the formation of blisters and ease the pain. Also, the application of pure lavender oil on little scrapes will prevent scarring. Not only these. This essential oil will also ensure that your wounds are sweet-smelling. It is undoubtedly a mandatory presence in your first-aid toolkit!

Bleeding

Bleeding is the major reason most injuries lead to worse conditions. Uncontrolled bleeding from a minor wound can lead to critical health malfunctioning. Should you suffer a minor cut, all you have to do is drop lavender oil directly to the wound, and that’s it. You’re fine. Lavender will also help to cleanse your wound and prevent infections.

Ease Muscle Sprains or Pains

Any pain to the joints is sure to be a hindrance. Fortunately, lavender oil can provide relief on time. For muscle sprains or pains, make a mixture of lavender oil and a carrier oil (like coconut oil, jojoba oil, or olive oil) and apply topically on the area for sweet relief. The ideal time to do this is before bedtime.

Removal of Splinter

Removing splinters from the finger or foot can be very challenging. Yet, if left undone, it can be utterly painful — thus leaving you no choice. Ordinarily, the usual solution to splinter remover is tweezers, but lavender essential oil can be much easier and less painful. All you have to do is steep the finger or toe in lavender oil for some seconds and wait until it swells, after which you can easily take out the disturbing splinter.

Relieve Insect Bites

Bites from insects can cause painful itching or swelling. When this happens, you do not have to worry. Just drop some lavender oil on the area and leave be. In some minutes, you’ll see a significant reduction of the itch and swelling.

Insect Repellent

Insect bites are common in the wilderness, it’s common sense to be prepared ahead. There are several insect repellents available to buy, but instead of spending cash, you can just prepare yours. By mixing lavender oil with jojoba oil, olive oil, or coconut oil, you create a repellent against all insects. What’s more, this homemade repellent smells nice and never causes a reaction on the skin.

Takeaway From The Uses of Lavender Oil When Disaster Strikes

Lavender is a plant of beautiful purple flowers possessing antiseptic qualities. Thus, it is considered a natural antibiotic, which can help provide relief from several illnesses, such as stomach upsets, anxiety, and headaches. Obviously, there are impressive uses of lavender oil when disaster strikes.
