I’m not Argo’s mastermind, but I sure know a thing or two about the spy skills to add to your survival skill set.
As preppers, it is usual to have an interest in spy skill sets. In fact, if you do, you’re focused & desire improvement. Preppers share similarities with spies: both are, after all, exposed to dangers in one way or that other. Let’s look at some of the skills we can glean from these government-trained experts.
We are cutting through the fantasy.
3 Spy Skills to Add to Your Survival Skill Set
Medical Skills for Mishaps on Misadventures
Being a spy isn’t always about disguising to mingle with foreign diplomats & pulling a wool over their eyes while you dance & tangle at a swanky night party.
There’s always a time when the secret agent is caught & fighting starts.
Now, we can’t ignore the risk of our hero getting injured, just as we can’t rule out the possibility of an injury on your outdoor adventures.
In normal circumstances, the spy may be attended to by medical experts if he escapes his foes, just as we can get to our doctors too when we suffer an injury.
But upon the collapse of modern society, it is best that you’re equipped for your health. You have to be able to perform emergency procedures on yourself or people close to you.
Physical Security Skills to be a Difficult Opponent or Target
A good spy has to be very difficult to deal with physically. You don’t want your man to be easily knocked out by the first adversary he meets.
You can bet your last on Jason Bourne in this regard.
You also need this skill. There’s no telling what or who you may run into on your adventures. Thankfully, you don’t have to undergo a lot of special training to start.
You can start by upping your endurance & stamina levels, such that putting you down in a fight becomes impressively difficult. You don’t want to cover at the mere sight of one man pointing a gun at you.
You want to be able to knock out as many as possible. You want to be… John Wick!
Informational Security Skills for Staying Off-Grid
It takes 2 + 2 to know your spy isn’t out to give away information about himself. You could see a full thriller & wouldn’t figure out the spy until the movie ends.
Spies keep themselves off the grid. Or at least keep their identities hidden. Your man could be the attendant in a store yet be the leading agent at FBI.
You need that too. This is where you learn the art of concealment. You have to be able to stay off-grid whenever your presence on it doesn’t matter.
And even when your presence does matter, you can always figure out ways to remain unnoticed. You could make an invisibility suit to start with.
Concluding the Spy Skills to Add to Your Survival Skill Set
The three spy skills to add to your survival skill set highlighted above only tell half of the story. We’ll look at the other skills in subsequent articles to have a completely defined skill repertoire. For now, who’s your favorite spy?
